Prints & Lithographs

A Fine Art Print is a term used to describe an extremely high quality print. Fine art prints are often printed from digital files using archival quality inks and onto acid free fine art paper. It is the acid content in many papers that makes them turn yellow, brittle & crack over time.

In traditional pure etching has been around over 500 years. Etching is when metal (usually copper, zinc or steel) plate is covered with a waxy ground which is resistant to acid. The artist scratches off the ground with apointed etching needle where he or she wants a line to appear in the finished piece, so exposing the bare metal.

Serigraphs & Canvas

A serigraph is a silkscreen, though today more modern fabrics than silk are generally employed. The artist places a stencil on the fabric and forces ink through the places where the material is stencil-free. Each color in the piece must be applied with a separate screen. In a serigraph, the paint tends to sit on top of the paper and may be felt with a finger.

My father “Jack” started as a traveling salesman in the 70’s. He was a sales rep for a large moulding company that sold moulding used in frame shops for picture framing. He would haul cases of samples to frame shops to purchase mouldings to make the frames. He was the West Coast rep going from California, Oregon, Washington and as far as Texas. He traveled 9-11 months of every year until he retired in 2001.

Jack loved traveling to art galleries and frame shops for over 25 years. During his travels he became interested in the art galleries that sold lithographs, prints and etchings. He started buying directly from artists and taking that art and would trade for other art. During those years he noticed some art that he really liked and would sell to art galleries. The artist was Thomas Kinkade,” Painter of Lights”. Of course Thomas Kinkade took off and became very successful opening galleries all over the country.

As years went by, Jack would buy struggling artists work directly from the artist in bulk. We would sell on consignment to many galleries and then started selling on Ebay. We currently have thousands of artwork pieces. Aviation lithographs by Robert Taylor and Nicholas Trudian to name a few.

Times changed in the 80’s with art taking a downturn. Without E-bay until 1995, it was impossible to get art out there due to many galleries having closed their doors. I never really had an interest in the art business since I was raising a family and working in the grocery business for 25 years. Jack had to retire in 2001 due to health issues. I retired from the grocery business and started working with my parents after he retired. My 80 year old mother Mary and I started the overwhelming task of trying to update our inventory list. She taught me how to pack and ship artwork to galleries. We decided to try Ebay with selling our art. Even in 2001, there really was not a lot of art listed. Slowly but surely art started to pick-up again. In 2009 with websites being the new norm, we decided to build a website. Art Coast 2 Coast was born. We have shipped art worldwide. As far as the UK, Germany and Australia.

I lost my father in 2016 and my 97 year old mom in 2017. Since starting this business, I truly began to have a love for art. Dealing with customers in the art world is really great. So many wonderful people to find a home for our art collection to decorate their walls.

Since most of the collection we have was purchased direct and below wholesale, we are able to sell art at great prices below retail and below wholesale. Our goal is to find a loving home for all the art. From aviation, floral, wildlife, cowboy ,abstract and much more. We want your buying experience to be first rate. We have over 1000 positive feedbacks with our Ebay store. With so many artists not even listed on our sites, if you don’t see a specific title or artist listed, we are happy to check our inventory.

Happy collecting!
